Hungarian Pork Stew

Hungarian Pork Stew

This chunky Hungarian stew, or goulash, is rich in flavor, healthy and easy to prepare. Our Nashville Spice Company Cayenne Pepper adds a surprise ‘kick’ and sweet bell peppers bring it all together. Our top-grade Nashville Spice Company Hungarian Paprika has just a dash more heat than our other paprikas. Keep the temp to a low simmer after adding the paprika to keep it from becoming bitter tasting. This is also a good recipe for the slow cooker.

Ingredients

1 lb lean pork tenderloin, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 Tbs olive oil

3 Tbs Nashville Spice Company Hungarian Paprika

1/4 tsp Nashville Spice Company Cayenne Pepper

11/4 C water

1-15 oz can tomato sauce

1 red pepper, seeded, roasted and cut into 1-inch pieces

1 yellow bell pepper, seeded, roasted and cut into 1-inch pieces

Nashville Spice Company Cracked Black Pepper to taste

2 C cooked medium grain brown rice

Directions

Bring olive oil to medium high heat in a Dutch oven or deep skillet.

Add pork and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add the Nashville Spice Company Hungarian Paprika, Nashville Spice Company Cayenne Pepper, tomato sauce and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.

Add the bell peppers and cook an additional 10-15 minutes until meat is tender and peppers are soft.

Serve over rice with cracked black pepper.
