Apple Pie Fries

Apple Pie Fries

These fries are basically tiny, flat pies. They are dangerously delicious and it’s easy to over indulge, so watch it! The caramel sauce can be used as a dip or poured directly over the fries. We suggest eating them with a tiny scoop of vanilla bean ice cream if you don’t have caramel sauce.

Ingredients

1 package refrigerated pie crust

1 lb tart apples, peeled and cubed

1 egg

2 tsp Nashville Spice Company Apple Pie Spice

2 Tbs sugar

2 Tbs lemon juice

1 tsp Nashville Spice Company Vermont Maple Sugar

1/2 tsp Nashville Spice Company Cinnamon

1 tsp sugar, for topping

Caramel sauce for dipping

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Allow pie crust to come to room temperature.

In skillet, over medium-low heat, combine apples, lemon juice, 2 Tbs sugar and Nashville Spice Company Apple Pie Spice. Cook until apples are soft and the consistency of chunky applesauce. Let cool.

Grease cookie sheet or use silicone mat and set aside.

Lightly dust surface with flour and roll out pie crusts to approximately the same size.

Spread apples onto bottom crust, to within 1/8-inch of the edge. Place second crust on top.

Cut into 1/2-inch strips, then into fry-size pieces.

Beat egg and brush over crust. Sprinkle Nashville Spice Company Vermont Maple Sugar, sugar and cinnamon on top.

Transfer to baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes. Serve with caramel sauce.
