November Newsletter - "The Art of Food"

WE HAVE EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE WITH YOU!!!!

Nashville Spice Company is bursting at the seams...as we continue to add new spices and products, our current space has become too small. We have found a fantastic new location just south of us down the alley from our current location in Nashville, Indiana.

The new location located in Coachlight Square next door to Country Heritage Winery is twice as big, brighter and offers parking near the store.

We will be closed in January making the move, and we will be opening in our new location late January. You can still shop with us online 24/7, or stop in the store before we move...the more you buy the less we have to move!

Our current location will be transformed into our newest venture, "NSC Home", an artisan, handcrafted home goods store.  NSC Home “The Art of Living” will be opening Spring 2020.

Watch for updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Thank you for supporting us over the past several years and helping us to grow. We are excited for our expansions coming in 2020!

NOVEMBER NEWS...

Fall...the return of pumpkin spiced anything and everything! You can easily find pumpkin sprinkled throughout hundreds of goodies, but did you know the pumpkin actually has some pretty deep meaning? Here are a few insights to the meaning of pumpkins...

  • Remember scanning the pumpkin patch looking for the biggest pumpkin you could find? Well the bigger is literally the better, since the pumpkin represents abundance and prosperity! The whole pumpkin represents the world we live in now, and is literally filled with blessings waiting to be granted. Each seed represents an opportunity available to you in this life, and with an average pumpkin having about 500 seeds you can literally count your blessings!
  • Along with representing blessings, pumpkin seeds also represent your dreams! Whether that’s a dream for your future or one crafted while getting a good night’s rest, each seed represents a possibility.
  • The vine of the pumpkin ties directly into friendship and connection. The pumpkin receives all its nutrients from the ground through the vine, and is a connection to the world from which it grows.

This month we are featuring our Nashville Spice Company Pumpkin Pie Spice and sharing the perfect fall recipe - Pumpkin Pie Pudding.

Our featured product is a new flavor from Eliot's Nut Butter Spreads - Oregon Hazelnut Chocolate. Lookout Nutella - this jar has more flavor, local nuts and none of the junk Nutella has in their jars! Try it, you will never go back!

SPICE OF THE MONTH - Pumpkin Pie Spice

Our Nashville Spice Company Pumpkin Pie Spice is hand blended with cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg. It has warm, earthy notes with a hint of sweetness. Our Nashville Spice Company Pumpkin Pie Spice is a very versatile spice blend and pairs more naturally with some flavors than with others.

When you are looking to create that perfect, traditional pumpkin pie this holiday season, this is the seasoning blend that you want to have at your fingertips! While it may not be the most popular spice, herb or seasoning in your pantry, it is one of the most critical and versatile spices to have during the holiday season.

Here are some of our favorite ways to use this almost enchanted spice blend

  • Candied nuts (especially pecans)
  • Pork tenderloins or pork chops (pairs nicely when mixed with a bit of garlic, olive oil and a drizzle or two of maple syrup)
  • Use it in place of cinnamon on French Toast
  • It’s almost magical when combined with canned pumpkin (but not canned pumpkin pie mix) in your morning oatmeal
  • Sprinkle it over winter squash, sweet potatoes or carrots and roast
  • Spice up whipped cream
  • Mix it in yogurt or ice cream base
  • Try sprinkling some over your coffee grounds before brewing your coffee (to create your own Pumpkin Spiced Latte)
  • Stir into waffle or pancake batter
  • Season popcorn

With all of these wonderful ideas, you will need to pick up at least 2-3 jars to last you through the holidays!

A perfect dessert for a crisp Fall day when the leaves are falling, a chill is in the air and a nice roaring fire in the fireplace. This will make your entire house smell wonderful all day!

This is a wonderful recipe for your 2 quart slow cooker. The pudding rose up to the top but did not go over in the 2 quart cooker, so you could use a larger one if you have one. We made this recipe a bit healthier by using one whole egg and one egg white and use the canned pumpkin puree, not the pumpkin pie mix which is loaded with sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 15 oz. can pumpkin puree
  • 1 12 oz. can unsweetened evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten (1 whole egg and 1 egg white only)
  • 2 Tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Nashville Spice Company Pumpkin Pie Spice

Instructions:

  • Lightly oil the inside of the slow cooker
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk or sift together flour, baking soda and salt
  • Add remaining ingredients and stir thoroughly to combine
  • Transfer mixture to the slow cooker
  • Cook on high for 3-4 hours (if you are using the 2QT cooker, it may be closer to the 3-hour mark)
  • Pudding should be set, and the temperature should be at 160 degrees on the inside

Serve warm with cinnamon ice cream, whipped topping or a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey.

Makes 6 servings
